AIRFLOW Technology and Guided Biofilm Therapy
Airflow technology is used in Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) to remove plaque, stains, and calculus from teeth, implants, and restorations. GBT is a dental procedure that uses a combination of air, water, and powder to clean teeth in a comfortable, efficient, and safe way.
- Dye: A harmless dye is applied to the teeth to stain plaque. This helps dental hygienists see where plaque is located and ensure it's removed.
- Airflow handpiece: A handpiece projects a stream high-pressure, warm of air, water, and powder onto the teeth. The stream is high hard-to-clean areas like between the teeth and under the gumline. The handpiece doesn't touch the teeth or gums.
- Treatment: GBT removes plaque, stains, and discoloration. It can also polish teeth.
- Education: GBT includes patient education and oral hygiene instructions.
GBT is a systematic and predictable procedure that's based on scientific knowledge and clinically proven technologies. It's developed by EMS, a Swiss company that's a leader in professional prophylaxis.
GBT is not recommended for patients with severe or unstable upper respiratory tract infections, or chronic bronchitis or asthma.
